This is the film that started it all for Pixar, and, for all intents and purposes, a lot of animation as we know it. Some of that is for better and for worse. I wonder what the state of animation would be in had computer-generated imagery not been thrust in the forefront. Some of it looks good. Some of it looks fantastic, actually. However, I won't lie and say I don't miss when traditional animation wasn't the niche approach.

Nonetheless, Toy Story itself is a fantastic film and among the best offerings you'll find in western animation (and animation-animation, for that matter). It has strong voice-acting, revolutionary animation, and a fantastic, realized concept to boot.

I really enjoyed it. It's a classic, of course. You can really see how far animation has come. It's just, it's definitely as good visually as today's stuff, but I would say it is just as good because you can see this is where we started (with CGI animation). The story is fun and classic, and the fact Buzz Lightyear becomes mentally-broken just tickles me every time!
