Wouldn't it be ironic if this was a box office bomb?

I'm cautiously optimistic, but unsold. As much as everyone liked his film Dunkirk, ... I didn't, particularly. This film feels more like that than anything else Nolan has made. Loved the Dark Knight movies, Memento, Interstellar, and Prestige. Liked Interstellar and Insomnia. He's a director that rarely misses for me.

I would love for this to have a blend of the cinematography of Interstellar for the fusion of the atom and maybe the drop; but, maybe more of the somber picture of Dark Knight Rises or Dunkirk.

Over time, I feel like I've opened my mind to this film a little bit. I wonder which way Nolan will portray Oppenheimer. Some saw his as an arrogant, cocky guy who wore his creation as a badge of honor, others chose to portray him as the reluctant scientist whose creation was used in ways he didn't approve of.

I appreciate that Christopher Nolan made (and arguably perfected) the superhero genre with The Dark Knight trilogy, but hasn't sat on his laurels by returning to it. No movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for him. He could've (and who would've faulted him?), but, instead, he makes original films like Tenet and flicks that, without his name-attached, wouldn't draw mainstream attention, like Dunkirk and, now, Oppenheimer.

I'm not certain. I believe the answer is likely someplace in the middle of it, but that's really based on presumption more than it is any concrete evidence of the fact. I believe he has a certain God-like complex, based on certain stories I had read about him, a sense of importance in what he was doing (perhaps, not unearned, given the magnitude of the feat he helped will into creation). I believe he had a war mentality, and either thus or them sensibility that he used to justify his own action. I also believe there is a chance he would've preferred it not happen and would prefer it not happen again. This is all largely guesswork though.

Sounds like we'll just have to wait until we see more glimpses through trailers or other sneak peaks or interviews.
