I dunno, when I hear club I think it's for like group-playing the game. like a book club is people who read the same book at the same time. instead it's just about the game specifically? Why have these in their own section instead of the general gaming forum?

Hey,

Let's talk about that - cue the Good Mythical Morning theme-song!

To begin, you're absolutely right! When you think of a club, you generally think of a collaborative effort between individuals on a particular subject. The Gaming, Movie, and Book Club are in their infancy (you may not be aware, but the website has only existed for a little over a month now). Currently, whenever you create a story in the Reviews section of Dustjacket, the website will, in turn, automatically create a thread in one of the three particular sections. This is so, not only can a person review the story, but we can all participate in a discourse about it. From each thread, you can also navigate to the respective Reviews section for that story and share your (1/5 star) review.

The Reviews section is a collaborative effort, which better suits the definition of a "club," so to speak. Every review is kept and tabulated, check this thread for more information about our Dustjacket Hall of Fame.

Something else we are developing in the Review section is the ability to "Log" your stories (for example, Movies Seen, Games Beaten, Books Read), etc. For more information, check out our Logging a Story on Dustjacket thread.

On the subject of Clubs, we absolutely intend to narrow in on stories and how special viewings, etc.

For example, something I would love to do is have five members agree on a specific genre and choose a film apiece to talk about and each share their thoughts on (having it be something like 1 movie a week so everyone has a chance to watch it). I'd be game for doing the same with video-games and books as well (adjusting the time-frame required to better accommodate everyone's schedules and pace).

However, I also understand we are not yet ready for that. Our community is small and, for the most part, people come and go fairly frequently. It isn't a loyal following, exactly. That's okay though! We're only starting out and it is a learning process for everyone (especially myself). I wouldn't want to force something like that into existence and then, have one or more of the people drop-out one third the way through and feel like a fool about it. So, for now, we create the threads, advertise (it's how we got you!), and have as much discussion as we can. I am always learning and trying to find new, better ways to improve Dustjacket, so if you have any ideas you'd like to share, I am all ears.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
