I have watched the movies multiple times. I once even binge-watched 3 movies. The movies have everything, from the story and VFX to subplots and interesting characters. I have not read the books though.

I hope it's not the same books they already did.

We are very precious about The Lord of the Rings, and, on one-hand, I respect that, but, on the other-hand, I don't understand why. We have guys on certain pedestals, but the truth is, there're still talented people amongst us. There are people who understand Lord of the Rings (and fantasy fiction), some of which may now understand it more than Tolkien. Look at something like Shadows of Mordor. That's how much better our Lord of the Rings movies could be if we weren't afraid to be outright and say it: - Make Lord of the Rings 4. I don't want to spend the next fifty years seeing us fiddle-fart around, recapping the same journey over and over again, or having small, inconsequential journeys between characters we all remember from better things, that largely only exist to serve as winks and nods to other, better things.
