Summary: When his daughter, Angela, and her friend Katherine, show signs of demonic possession, it unleashes a chain of events that forces single father Victor Fielding to confront the nadir of evil. Terrified and desperate, he seeks out Chris MacNeil, the only person alive who's witnessed anything like it before.

The reviews have absolutely ripped this film apart. It is a damn shame that they can't crack the code on how to make a successful Exorcist film.

Universal bought the rights to The Exorcist for 400 million dollars, which means that Exorcist: Deceiver and the untitled third film (I would go with Blasphemer, personally) will most likely have to happen to recoup their damages, but this certainly bodes ill.

The 2018 Halloween film (which David Gordon Green also directed) made 250 million, but the films thereafter saw substantially diminished returns on investment (collectively, Halloween Kills and Ends made less than Halloween 2018 combined).

If this film is struggling to make 100 million worldwide, how will things bode for the sequels?

Personally, I have never been a huge fan of The Exorcist series. I enjoyed the first film well enough, and I particularly enjoyed The Exorcist 3, but it is a series I have almost no interest in.
