Readers Digested, Vol. 1: Stories of the Unknown

Mishmashers Publishing welcomes you to confront your fears of the unknown. Be aware though, it may just eat you alive!

Readers Digested, Vol. 1 has been a labor of love, a year in the making for our small independent company. The anthology comprises itself of an array of stories written by a collection of talented, enthusiastic artists from around the world. Our desire? To scare the hell out of you! To creep you out a little bit. Or, even simply, to entertain you.

Whether it be something oddball weird or spooky, there are innumerable reasons one seeks out horror or ghastly tales, and we're confident we will satisfy more than a few of them with our assortment.

  • A Monster Story by S.A. Moore
  • Regret, Inc., Medicinehead and Save Point by Todd Rigney
  • Glass Case by Ashley Grant
  • The Labyrinth and the Lighthouse and That Grim Machine by Tim Babbitt
  • There's a Monster in my Room and The Ghost Lamp by Matt Schorr
  • The Science of Spirits by Bradley Walker
  • Parlor Tricks by McConnaughay

Very cool. 🎃
Very.

Currently, I am developing Readers Digested, Vol. 2 (all of the stories have been procured), all I have to do is some touch-ups and formatting, and it is off to the races for it!

Way to give yourself top billing, smh (kidding). :ROFLMAO:
You know it. 😎

In case anyone's curious though, we have a rotation on who "opens, is in the middle, and who's at the end". This time, I was at the end (which I would think is actually the worse spot compared to the start). For our next anthology, I will open and Scott Moore will end. In the third anthology, if Bradley Walker submits a story for it, he will be the end, I will be in the middle, so on and so forth.

Someday, I'd like to have so many anthologies happening that there will be instances neither Scott nor myself appears in them (because we will be appearing in other anthologies that year, etc.)

We appreciate that!

In other news, a campaign for Readers Digested, Vol. 1 is now happening on Reddit. I am hopeful it will lead to a few sales headed our way.

I ordered my copy of it today and will probably order the volume two when it becomes available for sales.

Looks fun. I wish you the best on it. If you ever decide to do a crime-fiction anthology, I might try to write something up on that. I actually have a couple stories stowed away for a rainy day you might be interested in.

Thanks, man! So, for now, I know we will do Readers Digested Vol. 3, as we still have a lot of stories left over that need published. I am confident we will do a Vol. 4, eventually, but we aren't pressing for it too hard just yet.

We have our mind set on doing a fantasy anthology as well. We're thinking we will call it Dreamers Hallow. @Scott has no shortage of stories for it, and I am hoping I can draw something up as well.

As for Crime, I'm not certain. It's definitely something we'd like to do, but it's also something that might be hard to find writers for.

A lot of this stuff has proving pretty exhausting, and so, we might look into doing larger book publishing deals with people, but we'd have to figure out what exactly that'd entail (how much we'd pay, royalties, so on and so forth).
