Let's Do It (10).jpg

On May 31st, Mishmashers Publishing will release its second volume of Readers Digested, an anthology of horror stories vetted by yours truly and @Scott.

On April 15th, @Becklebear and I debuted the first installment of our new show, The Hodgepodge Lodge Podcast. This is an example of one of the many things we want to do on Dustjacket.

The forum itself is a wonderful base of operations and I hope we can build upon that. However, it isn't the only thing we are about. I want us to develop Podcasts, full-length novel releases, conduct interviews, and be able to do movie marathons, books clubs, and the like.

Future.

I am currently developing a new, improved version of Mishmashers Publishing - for all intents and purposes, an important part of everything we do on Dustjacket. Many of our writers on Mishmashers are members (on Dustjacket) and everything we do operates as an ecosystem. What I am developing is ambitious and will require time and money.

I don't ask for money. I won't ask either. (Not unless I am providing an actual product, and that isn't what Dustjacket is for.) All I ask is that, if you believe in what we're trying to accomplish, you stick with us, support us (which can be accomplished even just by dropping a link to a friend) and show us patience, or contribute unique ideas to help us improve.

I am starting a budget-plan for Mishmashers Publishing, using my own funds and money made through ads you may've seen.

Full transparency, my current goal is to launch the new Mishmashers Publishing with a $1,400 ad campaign. The bells and whistles of what I want to do are also things I have to factor in. In-order to incorporate the E-Reader feature I want, I have to pay about $100 for it. The theme I bought, that cost $50 to own. I have publishing expenses of about $300 at launch as well.

Outside of Mishmashers Publishing, something else I am looking to do is build upon our Reviews / Your Logs section. This is a vital element of Dustjacket, but it remains in its infancy stages. I am still familiarizing myself with the XenForo software, of what it can do, what it can't do, and what I think I may one day be able to make it do. In-particular, I am currently looking for ways to better incorporate it visually on Dustjacket and make it more user-friendly. I have a couple modifications in mind (that will run me about $50 apiece). This is all separate from the book conventions we attend and the monthly service-fees I pay.

I will likely nip the minor things in the bud over the next couple months. For now, the major priority is advertising / raising awareness of Dustjacket.

A lot of ambition there. I look forward to seeing your finished vision.

I will look into buying copies of Readers Digested, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 when I have the chance. Any information on a physical release for Vol. 2?

I am working on that! I was waiting on @Scott to do formatting, and he was late, so I couldn't get the proper dimensions for the spine and back. I will try to have that ready in a couple days! Sorry about that.
