I went and watched it. I liked it a fair bit as well. Part of me wishes they would have made a sequel to the 2013 film instead, but I still had fun with it. Hope it does well enough that they do more of them.

Very happy and grateful we were able to receive another installment in the Evil Dead series. Horror fans have been eating well in recent times and I'm here for it. It's a very good film, harsher by mainstream standards, and a lot of fun. Highly recommended.

I haven't seen it yet, but it looks aight. It looks a little like a conventional supernatural horror film (which isn't a bad thing) and less like an Evil Dead film, I am curious.

Film seems to be doing well for itself. Maybe it won't be 10 years for the next one. 😆

I *still* haven't seen the film yet (I really, really want to, I've simply been preoccupied).

However, it recently out-grossed the 2022 reboot of Scream, which is a benchmark I didn't initially believe it would reach (or anywhere close, for that matter). The last Evil Dead (2013) film made 97 million, and honestly, most analysts believed it wouldn't be able to match that success (it was originally meant to be an HBO Max exclusive release, after all, so the marketing budget likely wasn't too, too lucrative). The film has now reached 140 million total and looks like it still has a little juice left in it. I imagine everybody involved must be ecstatic. This is the type of breakout success that can actually lead to quicker sequels (not trapped in development hell) and more ambitious films altogether.

For example, in the early-2000s, they wanted to do Ash vs. Freddy vs. Jason, but decided not to do it because Ash wasn't seen as that big of a character and Raimi wanted Ash to win (which he should, ... he's the good guy and the one who isn't immortal). Just saying, I betcha if Army of Darkness made 140 million worldwide (or the 90s inflation-adjusted equivalent), we might have seen a different fate play out.
